ELITE SERIES II HUBS

The Elite Series II is Origin8’s flagship line of high-performance hubs. Available in both Road/All-Road and MTB models, Origin8 Elite Series II hubs feature category-specific freewheel technology and a modular design that is serviceable, rebuildable, and convertible across a wide array of axle and cassette body standards.

DRIVE SYSTEMS

36T Ratchet Drive System
This tried and true freewheel system features 36 tooth high-precision ratchet plates that provide the highest levels of durability, reliability, and performance. Sporting a quick 10° engagement, ideal for Road and All-Road riding, the full and simultaneous engagement of the ratchet plates distribute pedaling forces across a large contact area ensuring a robust and confidence-inspiring transfer of power to the rear wheel.

Unlike some other ratchet drive systems that rely on dual moving ratchet plates and springs to engage one another, the Origin8 system only uses a single moving ratchet plate and spring housed within the cassette body. A fixed ratchet plate is threaded into the hub shell minimizing the number of moving parts and in return increasing durability. Eliminating excess internal components also results in a lighter overall weight of the freehub system.

An added benefit of threading the fixed ratchet plate into the hub shell is that it allows the distance between hub bearings inside to be maximized. This increased distance provides additional support for the hub axle, resulting in less deflection, which protects the bearings and increases their lifespan.
150T 3-Pawl Micro-Drive System
This next-generation, high-performance freewheel system features a 150 tooth drive ring and three synchronous multi-lipped pawls that deliver a nearly instant transfer of power to the rear wheel when engaged. This impressive 2.4° engagement, ideal for Mountain Biking, provides a lightning fast response to rider input at the pedals whether dissecting technical ascents or accelerating out of corners.

Unlike many other pawl driven freehub systems, each pawl found within the Origin8 Micro-Drive System features five distinct lips that simultaneously engage the drive ring threaded inside the hub shell. This larger than typical area of engagement provides an even distribution of torque over multiple contact points that results in a drive system that’s extremely durable, reliable, and long-lasting.

Modular Hub Design

Serviceable - Rebuildable - Convertible
The modular design offers versatile, cost-effective adaptability by allowing easy drivetrain changes and compatibility with different axle standards. Perfect for evolving setups and simplified maintenance.

PREMIUM SEALED BEARINGS

Premium Sealed Bearings
All Origin8 Elite Series II hubs feature premium SUJ2 sealed cartridge bearings for long-lasting, smooth-spinning performance no matter the type of riding, terrain, or conditions encountered. To achieve the optimum balance between durability and rolling speed, Origin8 specs bearings equipped with LLU full contact, dual lip seals on the outboard side and LLB light contact seals on the inboard side. Additional external seals are assembled into the hub beneath the end caps to provide an extra level of protection from environmental contaminants.
AL7075 Axles
Forged and CNC machined AL7075 axles are both light and stiff. The result of this combination is realized not only in performance gains to power transmission, but also bearing protection and increased lifespan due to lack of deflection along the hub’s axis.
Freehub Lubrication
Origin8 Elite Series II rear hubs arrive from the factory with pre-lubricated freehubs featuring a thin layer of Dumond Tech Pro-X Freehub Grease. This specially formulated lightweight grease is ideal for the high-precision drive systems found within the Elite Series II hub line. As an alternative, Dumond Tech Pro-X Freehub Oil may also be used. While both lubricants provide exceptional freehub performance and protection, it should be noted that the sound produced by the drive system will be louder when lubricated with oil than with grease.
